On the nightstand

Comprised on Army Green Berets, Navy Seals, and Air Force Commandos, MACV-SOG units were the precursor to Delta Force. These guys were the toughest of the tough in Vietnam. It makes for some pretty intense reading. More about this book HERE

Random post. I like these covers. They both make me feel good. Jimmy Buffett – A1A (1974) and Band of Horses – Cease to Begin (2007)

The Hell of the North

April 21, 2008 · Leave a Comment

Tom Boonen won the classic Paris-Roubaix spring classic this weekend.  Couple of things to notice in this clip:

1. Watch how fast the riders pass…riding on cobblestone streets!

2. Notice the moron on the other side of the street tossing water (or beer?) into the faces of the passing riders.

The cobblestones, along with the big climbs in the grand tours, are scary situations. It’s basically chaos with the crowds close enough to do watch ever they please to the riders. How do you think the pro athletes of the big 3 sports would handle that?

…at how talented this guy was. It’s been awhile since I hit you guys with a “Jeff Buckley rules” post. Just so you don’t forget how great he was and how great he could have been if he hadn’t died young, here is a live clip of “Grace” followed by an lesser known tune called “Forget Her”:
