The former president of Liberia, Charles Taylor, will go on trial for war crimes beginning tomorrow at the Hague. Taylor played a key role in the bloody civil war in neighboring Sierra Leone by backing and supplying the Revolutionary United Front (RUF) as a means of destablizing the Sierra Leone government.
After reading Ishmael Beah’s memoir, A Long Way Gone, I for one hope Taylor is convicted and sentenced to a fate similar to those met by the child soldiers of Sierra Leone.
Now, let’s round up Joseph Kony and his LRA cronies in Uganda.
